{Personal Expressions} Birthday celebrations

January 16, 2011

How you do celebrate birthdays?

Here at MemorableJaunts its all about what the birthday boy or girl like to do. We learnt the hard way on how not to have a birthday party..."Don't force any expectations and ideas on the birthday child/adult or you could end up having a 1 1/2 hr meltdown session during the party".

Needless to say we carry this theme across our pets as well. So when our pet turned 8, we had a pet party...a lot of running around, romping in the snow and inviting other pets. It was a low key event but we all had a lot of fun...including the birthday girl!...

Thank you for a wonderful day doing what I love - "Hanging out!"

{Personal Expressions} Collage - a wonderful thing indeed!

January 13, 2011

I recently discovered a love for collages - picture collages to be specific. In just one glance they convey the entire message, tell a story or even portray your finest work. Its a beautiful thing indeed.

I want to create one for every month, one for every trip, one for kids, one for pets, one for......the list goes on and on. I have only two completed :). They are extremely time consuming and at midnight, all the creative juices seem to drain out!! I have a lot of ideas on what to do with these collages - print a calendar, a photobook or even fliers that showcase my work...my oh my, the possibilities seem endless.

Here is a sneak peak at one that I created!

{Travel Log} Camping in the Midwest, really?

January 07, 2011

Very often families who want to try camping think that the best places to camp are only in National Parks and National Forests where you can experience wilderness and solitude. While I agree that the experience of camping in National Parks and forests is awesome, I also think that a lot of those experiences can be duplicated in your own back yard i.e the countless State Parks that we seem to forget in our quest for the perfect wilderness experience.
I think this is especially true for us mid-westerners - the closest National Park is more than 500miles away. Luckily for us, we have some amazing state parks and national lakeshores where camping is plenty, views are breathtaking and crowds are few.
A while back, we took our first camping trip with an 7 month old. Yes, we had to prep a bit more than what we would normally do for a quick getaway. But the experience of snuggling in a tent, cooking on a firepit and watching beautiful sunsets was well worth the extra effort.
Here are some snapshots from our camping in Michigan!

{Personal Expressions} A Case of the sillies

Our household is loud, our household is active and our household is most DEFINITELY SILLY & GOOFY!...nothing brings out our silliness more than when we see a camera pointed at us. Somehow we make silly faces first before we can get everyone to give a smile!

Here we are in all our glory! - dont be scared...promise, we are quite normal on most days...lol!

{Personal Expressions} Black-n-White and some in-betweens

I love black and white pictures. Something about them makes everything "pop" and draws the eyes to notice a lot more details. Thats not to say I dont like bold colors but black and white is something else :)...Enjoy some snapshots in Black-N-White.

{Personal Expressions} Happy New Year - 2011!

January 03, 2011

Sight that greeted us the last day of 2010 - temps in the 50s melted all the snow and we went for a "Wild Wild West" New Year party without jackets!...the first for us :)
