{Lifestyle Portraiture} Sneak Peek - Two Mothers Food Catering event | Naperville Lifestyle Photographer

February 28, 2012

Do you know of Two Mothers Food in Naperville, IL? If not, check out their link. They have been getting rave reviews in the press and recently, were also interviewed on TV. If you have had a chance to meet them in person, you know what I am talking about. These women are amazing. They have a zero waste kitchen that cranks out the most amazing food. They also cater to special diets like vegans, gluten-free, vegetarian - you name it!.

I had a opportunity to interact with them while photographing Mary's Wholesome Living Holiday Cookie Class (check out that post here). I loved meeting them and sampling their food. It is really delicious and "feel good" food. Christy contacted me a couple of weeks back asking me if I would be willing to photograph an event they are catering - a wedding!. This was something new for them and they wanted to document their journey. I jumped at the chance and let me tell you - these women are impressive. They made it seems so easy and effortless. The food was incredibly delicious and the little touches that they added to the presentation was exceptional.

Ladies, here is your sneak peak! - you guys rocked the wedding and here's to wishing you great success in this new endeavour. You nailed it! :)

The appetizer table that greeted the guests as they walked into the reception/dinner area!
The ladies in action! - they made it seem so effortless!
The food does not need any introduction! - it was absolutely delicious. The little heart-shapped carrots in the salad and the yellow "shots" of soup! - see, I told you the presentation was phenomenal.
Drumroll please - the lovely ladies behind Two Mothers Foods - Christy and Nicky.
What a wonderful compliment when the bride comes back to the kitchen to thank you for all the wonderful food you have just served.
Check them out - you will not be disappointed!

{Travel Log} A complete sensory stimulation in the Caribbean | Caribbean Outdoor Travel

February 24, 2012

What a wonderful way to relax, unwind and completely let go to the sensory stimulation found in the Caribbean. I think this can be said for most of the Caribbean islands but no where is it more relevant than in the wonderful island of Curacao!

Curacao is part of the "ABC" islands, but so rich in culture and vibrant in color - it is lively. It is a tiny island with a big agenda!!
I knew I was in for a treat when I got off the plane and saw this sign...the country has a "SUN" symbol in its name :)
 Have you tried "yoga" on the beach? We did and let me tell you it was "bliss".
I would love to have this view as I eat every meal ;)
Curacao is very colorful - everywhere you turn, you are surrounded by color. Not just outside but indoors as well. Downtown Willemstad is a world heritage site. No two buildings are alike in shape or color. Doesn't this give you home painting ideas? :)
Of course water is the key attraction here. It is a wonderful shade of green and blue and is crystal clear!
We saw some unique shape and patterns
Being true to any Memorable Jaunts adventure, we went off the beaten path and hiked into Christoffel National Park.
The views were simply stunning!
The sights around Curacao are really very unique - we saw countless varieties of lizards, birds, flower and vistas :)
Of course the animal life is equally diverse. We had a chance to watch a dolphin show and have a dolphin encounter. A visit with Tikko was definitely the highlight of our visit.
This was the resident pelican at the hotel who showed off his fishing skills twice a day, everyday!
The next time you want to get some sun, why not consider the country that has a "sun" in its name? - you will not be disappointed! You will be looking to go back there anytime you can - dare I say, annually perhaps ;)

{Travel Log} MIA - and good reason for it :) | Caribbean Outdoor Travel

February 17, 2012

I know I have been missing from this space for a bit but I have good reason to be - make that three good reasons. A school musical production to photograph, a wonderful caribbean retreat to enjoy and a cute valentine day party with a bunch of 2 year olds.
So I have been enjoying the moments and delayed editing and blog updates :). While I get back into the swing of things, I leave you with some favorite images from the past two weeks. A preview of things to come :)

{Personal Expressions} Creativity Challenge | Naperville Lifestyle Photographer

February 05, 2012

What started as a simple game of Scrabble turned into a creativity exercise :).

Three alphabets = Three words = Three pictures

My letters were "M", "R" and "H".

M = Motion
The blurry people in the background adds to the feeling of movement.

R = Road
The road that leads to the mountains...I cannot ask for a more perfect representation of my favorite place in the world - Mountains :)

H = Happiness
The burst of color and the face says it all.

To me, this is not about getting the perfect picture, the right camera settings or the right composition. This is about getting my brain to think outside the box :)

What is your creative challenge?
